Abstract

The Role of Ethics in the Development of Islamic Society: The Perspective of Maqashid Syariah. This study aims to explore the role of Islamic ethics as a moral foundation in community development, the implementation of the maqashid sharia principle in development strategies, and the challenges and solutions in integrating Islamic ethical values ​​into community development. By focusing on the values ​​of justice, responsibility, social solidarity, and spiritual-material balance, this study aims to provide ethical and practical guidance for creating a more just, harmonious, and sustainable society. This study uses a library research method by collecting data from books, journal articles, online news, and other documents. The data were analyzed using content analysis methods to identify key themes related to Islamic-based community development. The results of the study indicate that Islamic ethics, which are rooted in the maqashid sharia principle—protecting religion, soul, mind, descendants, and property—can be a holistic framework in community development. However, the implementation of these values ​​faces challenges such as lack of understanding, gaps between theory and practice, and cultural and structural barriers. To overcome these challenges, Islamic value-based education, training for practitioners, and the development of practical modules that support the implementation of Islamic ethics are needed. This study makes an important contribution to strengthening the integration of Islamic values ​​into sustainable community development strategies.
