Abstract

Multiculturalism as a Foundation for Managing Cultural and Religious Diversity in a Plural Society. This study aims to analyze the concept of multiculturalism as a basis for managing cultural and religious diversity in a pluralistic society. With a focus on the principles of authenticity of identity, recognition, distributive justice, and intercultural dialogue, this study explores how multiculturalism can create harmony in diversity and become a strategic approach in preaching. This study also aims to explore the relevance of multiculturalism in the context of Indonesia as a multicultural country. The method used in this study is library research by reviewing literature from various sources, such as books, journals, and academic articles. This study refers to the works of thinkers such as Charles Taylor, John Rawls, and other relevant authors to understand the basic principles of multiculturalism. The analysis is carried out descriptively with a qualitative approach to explore the relationship between multiculturalism theory and social practice, including in the context of preaching and public policy. The results of this study provide important implications for the development of multiculturalism policies and practices in Indonesia. The principles of multiculturalism can be applied in education, preaching, and managing social conflict to create an inclusive and harmonious society. This research also serves as a basis for further studies related to the development of cross-cultural communication and interaction strategies that can support social and religious development in plural societies.
